About Lorna

Lorna was appointed as General Counsel, GE Capital UK, in December 2010.

Previously, Lorna held the position of General Counsel, Strategic & Corporate Affairs, GE Capital EMEA. In that role, she advised GE Capital EMEA on numerous strategic projects, transactions and initiatives - including the GE Capital Mubadala Joint Venture. From 2006 to 2009, Lorna was the European General Counsel of GE’s Corporate Financial Services business, and as such played a key role in a number of strategic initiatives, including the acquisition and integration of Banque Artesia and Interbanca.

Lorna initially joined us in September 2004 as leader of GE Capital’s newly created legal team supporting our European leveraged finance activities. Following the creation of our Leveraged Finance business in 2005, Lorna was appointed its first General Counsel.

Prior to joining GE, Lorna served from 2000 to 2004 as counsel to Barclays Capital’s leveraged finance business - advising on the structuring, underwriting and syndication of complex leveraged finance transactions. During her time with Barcap, Lorna contributed significantly to its pioneering role in the establishment of the European leveraged loan market. She also played a pivotal part in the creation of standard leveraged finance documentation for the Loan Market Association.

Lorna qualified as a solicitor with Wilde Sapte in 1993. During her 9 years with that firm, she gained extensive experience in all aspects of commercial lending - specialising in restructuring, insolvency and acquisition finance.
